A Musical Journey

It all began in Astroworld’s Alpine Village in Houston Texas. Auf Geht’s Musik Bandleader Randy Adams began playing the happy music of the Alps fresh out of grad school in 1986 with his dear friend Mike Barker, and they went on to tour the US and Europe for more than 20 years with Mike’s band Alpenfest and Alpenfest Tours. As the years went by Randy, formally trained as a classical trumpet player, found the happy sounds of European folk music drawing him into a whole new world of musical expression in singing and jodeling, guitar, alphorn, musical handsaw, and finally the accordion.

Along with Mike, Randy performed more than 30 years at Rudi Lechner’s German Restaurant in Houston Texas. Randy is a career full-time musician and Professor of Trumpet at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. He is a member of the Houston Grand Opera Orchestra, and he also performs with the Houston Ballet. Randy played a vast array of Broadway Musicals for over 10 years with Theatre Under the Stars, and he played many years as an extra with the Houston Symphony, also serving as Interim Trumpet for the entire 2000-2001 season. But alas, none of those organizations are interested in his yodeling, accordion or musical handsaw!

Happy Bellows’ roots are in the folk music of the Alps – Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and The Czech Republic – but we love performing music from all over Europe, USA, Mexico and other parts of the world.
